Abstract
The purpose of this study was to explore the general tendencies of marital satisfaction, parental satisfaction, job satisfaction, and life satisfaction to analyze the variables which give effects to their life satisfaction. The research subjects were 73 dual-earner couples with children aged under 6. The data from survey using questionnaire were analyzed by descriptive statistics, paired-t test, Pearson¡¯s correlation and hierarchical multiple regression. Some of the results are as follows. Firstly, the marital satisfaction and parental satisfaction were high among the husbands and wives, but their job satisfaction and life satisfaction scores were average. Secondly, marital satisfaction was higher among the husbands than among the wives. However, job satisfaction and life satisfaction were higher among the wives than among the husbands. Finally, hierarchical multiple regression revealed that the variables explaining the life satisfaction were marital satisfaction and job satisfaction. For the husbands, educational level was included among the predicting factors. The authors discussed, based on the results above, ways for dual-earner couples raise their quality of life in the realms of both family and work.
